Lower Intake Manifold -- All-time CLEANING Production / Method for Buildup ??
I removed the lower intake manifold and removed the gasket to betrayal the metal surface.
On the metal surface remains this difficult to remove chaff. I will presume this is carbon and oil buildup. Information technology is very difficult to rub off with a sponge or even my finger nail. I Demand SOME Chemic SOLUTION to loosen this stuff. It is every where -- see photo below. I've already tried Certified Restriction Cleaner, GUNK Engine Degreaser, and generic Oven Cleaner (just rubbed it around). ALL OF THEM ARE USELESS. I might as well have sprayed it with gf's perfume and chosen it a day.
Please recommend an bodily solution to removing this tough buildup without really scratching the surface. I fail to see how a wire brush doesnt leave scratches on aluminum, telephone call me crazy. I'm totally lost how you guys accomplish this spotless end event, though. Those online earlier and subsequently photos... I'm calling it Photoshop'd because impossible ;P
Thanks for any product communication. Ideally if it is available at my local shop - Home Depot, Lowes, Canadian Tires, Rona, Part Source, etc

First, don't let whatever residue to fall inside the engine.
Plug upwardly all the intake and cooling ports with rags or newspaper towels.
Cover up the engine valley area with rags, paper towels, paper-thin.
If you accept an air compressor, use this soft wire wheel on a air dice grinder, it works the all-time. If yous don't have air, use an electric drill to make clean all the surfaces. A drill will take more than time. Information technology will make clean without damaging the aluminum surface. You don't need a lot of pressure on the drill.
These are common and any hardware store should take them.
Use centre protection and don't permit annihilation to fall within the intake ports or engine valley.
Do a final cleanup with restriction cleaner and a rag.
Don't forget to clean out within all the bolt holes.
In your last post, last flick, just above the arrow, looks like there may exist a split, crack, gouge in the coolant port at the eight:00 position. Take a close look at information technology...

Hey that looks terrific. I'k very paranoid to get the right brush. I did a quick search on Canadian Tires website but did not see anything matching "soft wire wheel". For the record is there a particular gauge or special term i need to go to ensure it is "soft"? I'll go roaming the aisles but based on feel alone all these brushes feel quite rough so desire to go that reassurance from an expert. I dont trust CT employees. Even if you have a direct link to a store like Princess Auto or CT that would help narrow it down for me
Cheers.

depends what equipment you have, if you have an air compressor, you can get a cheap sand blaster from princess auto (40 bucks) and a bag of walnut shells. This is by and large how its professionally done. You should exist able to find a softer wire bike though at Canadian tire, generally what you will be looking for is a wire bike labelled as "fine" not form. This way the wires are alot thinner thus less ambitious.

UPDATE
SUCCESS. I was able to remove the grime thanks to a "fine" soft wire brush. Terrific suggestion. No liquid cleaner helped at all; not brake cleaners or speciality engine degreasers. Snake oils if you inquire me.
Thank yous toro17 for the clarification. That was VERY IMPORTANT.
The surfaces, though feel smooth, expect dirty in places but the liquid cleaners, again, do cipher. I will assume this clay is below the surface beyond removal. As long as the surface is flat / smooth plenty for the gasket i'm cool unless you guys say otherwise. ONE Affair that concerns me is i do see PITTING in several locations. Non but pocket-sized dots in several areas only actual chunks around a port. WTF. This can be seen on the lower intake manifold (the removable function) and the part that remains in the engine. The lower intake manifold metal gasket would sandwich betwixt the ii sides. See photos below.
Would it be ok to apply Ultra Copper Loftier Temp. RTV Gasket Maker directly on the aluminum where i see the pitting and chunks THEN apply the metal gasket overtop? Is it ok to mix RTV Gasket Maker and these metal / rubber gaskets? Perhaps to play it safe smearing the gasket maker over the unabridged aluminum, both surfaces then placing the metallic gasket in betwixt. I dont intend on dealing with this manifold ever again; the machine is probable to be toast in a few years.
